COLUMBUS, Ohio –
About 400 Defense Supply Center Columbus associates and families gathered at the Operations Center April 1 to celebrate the Month of the Military Child.
The joint event, held by Morale Welfare and Recreation Columbus and the DSCC Police Department, featured an Easter egg hunt; bounce houses and games; face painting; goodie bags; a hot dog grill; cake and ice cream; and even a surprise drop-in visit from the Easter Bunny.
April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, marking the important role military children play in the armed forces community. According to the Defense Department, military families move on average every two to three years, impacting military children through changing schools and support networks.
Sponsored by the DOD Military Community and Family Policy, the Month of the Military Child is a time to honor military families and their children for the daily sacrifices they make and the challenges they overcome.
