Child and Youth Program (CYP) provide high quality child care programs and services that support eligible families. All programs are designed to enrich your child’s social, cognitive, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and development. CYP Professionals work in partnership with parents to meet each individual child's needs in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment.
- Accessibility: CYP are offered on Defense Logistics Agency installations within the continental United States.
- Affordability: Families are supported with affordable programs. CYP services are based on household income.
- Eligibility: Programs are available to active duty military, activated reservists and guardsmen, DoD civilian personnel, and DoD contractors.
- Quality: Programs are among the highest quality in the nation.
Child Development Centers (CDC) are designed to meet the individual developmental needs of eligible children by offering quality child care. Programs provide low adult-to-child ratios that support quality experiences for young children and onsite Training and Curriculum Specialists who mentor and foster professional development of CYP Professionals.
- CDCs use The Early Learning Matters (ELM) Curriculum, a comprehensive, evidence-informed program to support the optimal learning and development of children from birth to five years of age. The curriculum promotes skills linked to school readiness and life success with developmentally appropriate teaching strategies and a coordinated mix of staff-guided and child-initiated learning experiences.
- CDCs are DoD certified, nationally accredited and meet the highest quality of early childhood program standards and criteria.
- Each CDC supports parent involvement and works to ensure the inclusion of all children.
- CDCs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
MilitaryChildCare.com (MCC) was designed to simplify and improve the child care request process across all Services, including the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). MCC provides a single online gateway for Active Duty Military and DoD Civilian families to access military-operated child care options worldwide. The site enables families to create a household profile, conduct child care searches, submit requests for care, and manage their requests at any time and from any location.
